Bangalore International Centre In association with Nandi Valley Walks (Heritage Walking Tour Company)had arranged an illustratedpresentation on“The Last King in India” by Dr. Rosie Llewellyn-Jones, M.B.E onFriday, 11th November, 2016 at 6.30 PM. Prof. S Settarwas the Chair and Moderator.
Through a power point presentation Dr. Rosie briefed about the life of NawabWajid Ali Shah and about the decadent years of Lucknow before his kingdom was annexed by the British, which led, almost directly, to the Great Uprising of 1857. He has had a bad press, both from his fellow countrymen and particularly from the British. This illustrated lecture examined his life both in Lucknow, and in Calcutta, where he spent his last thirty years in recreating of his lost kingdom.
The Q & A session after the talk was informative and interesting.
