Bangalore International Centre had arranged an event viz., “Tete-a-Tete with Yasmeen Premji” on Tuesday, 27th November, 2012 at 6:30 pm. Ms. Munira Sen, Theatre Person read select passages suggested by the audience from the book “Days of Gold and Sepia” which was a debut book authored by Ms. Premji.
The book was a rag-to-riches tale which traced the journey of the young orphan Lalljee Lakha from Kutch (Gujarat) who became the cotton king Seth Lalljee Lakha of Bombay. The story was set in the turbulent era between the First War of Independence in 1857 and India’s independence in 1947.
Ms. Munira kept the audience completely engrossed when she read the excerpts from the book. It was very gripping and evocative. Even for those who did not read the book before, it tugged at the heartstring right from the onset. The plots in the book were instantly captivating. Ms. Yasmeen admitted that her book was about the extraordinary lives of ordinary people.
The event ended with an interesting and interactive session with the packed audience at BIC.
