Bangalore International Centre in association with Takshashila Institution had arranged a talk by H.E. Mr. Abdul Basit, High Commissioner of Pakistan on Wednesday, 28th October, 2015 at 6.30 PM at its auditorium. Dr. Ramachandra Guha, well-known historian chaired and moderated the session. The other speakers were Mr. Narayan Ramachandran and Mr. Aakar Patel.
The discussions brought out several aspects of the delicate relationship between India and Pakistan and the consensus of opinion was that the trust deficit which exists between the governments of both the countries needs to be dispelled through greater understanding of the ground realities in both the countries and talks without rancor. It was recognized that common people in both the countries would be interested in the betterment of their lives through unfettered trade, commerce and cultural exchanges.
The discussions were marked with civilized interactions, wit and humour. A record turnout of members thoroughly enjoyed the event.
