Bangalore International Centre, had arranged a Panel discussion on “S V Raju and Liberal Politics in India” on Friday, 7th August, 2015 at 6.30 PM. The event was organised in collaboration with The Takshashila Institution. Panelists were Mr. Ajit Ranade and Mr. Vivek Raju. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Nitin Pai.
Panelists delved into Mr. Raju’s writings and discussed about the intellectual ideas propagated by him about liberal politics in India. The panellists also discussed about the social activities in which Mr. Raju was involved. All the panellists highlighted the significant role played by the right-wing liberals, like Rajaji, Minoo Masani, N G Ranga, Sharad Joshi etc., in the post-independence period in Indian politics when Nehru’s influence and reputation was on a declining curve, and the stellar role played by S V Raju who remained in the background to nurture the movement and the Swatantra Party.
