Bangalore International Centre had arranged a Slide Show and Talk on “Best Practices in Disaster Preparedness evolved in India – What has India learnt in the decade after the Asian Tsunami?” by Ms. Malini Shankar on Wednesday, 30th September, 2015 at 6.30 PM.
Ms.Malini Shankaroffered a multimedia tribute on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary (2014) of the Asian Tsunami comprising of a free to access picture e book, an online photojournalistic portraiture and an online survey on best practices in mitigating hydrometerological disasters.
She narrated about the disasters like Tsunami, earth quakes, floods which happened in last few years along with photos taken from the disaster locations. She also narrated about the nature of help given by various governments to victims, and shared the survivors experiences. One Ms.Radha who is a Tsunami survivor was present during the talk and she narrated her horrifying experience of encountering 7 waves of Tsunami and survived.
Ms.Malini shared the best practices evolved and learnt in disaster preparedness in India since the Asian Tsunami. She also explained about an approach for disaster mitigation in different stages.
