Bangalore International Centre had organised a Storytelling Theatre Performance “SALAAM ROBI” celebrating the work of Rabindranath Tagore which was produced and presented by Bangalore Little Theatre on Friday, 5th December, 2014 at 6.30 pm at its Auditorium.
True to its tradition, Bangalore Little Theatre has developed an entire new thrust called Storytelling Theatre. Several great productions from the past have been converted to the Storytelling Theatre format and performed by one or two actors. An abridged version of the play “Robi’s Garden” was performed as “Salaam Robi” in the Storytelling Theatre programme by Vijay Padaki and Priyalakshmi Rao. Initally, Mr. Vijay Padaki displayed few slides of Rabindarnath Tagore and conducted a mini quiz. Then he and Priyalakshmi Rao started the play. It captured Tagore’s wit and the magic of his imagery through a set of sketches drawn from his short stories, verse, riddle plays and letters to his grand-daughter.
The programme was well attended and it was appreciated by one and all.
