Held on Wednesday, 9th Feb, 2011 at 6.30 pm

Bangalore International Centre had arranged a Talk on “Restoring ‘right order’: Justice and archetypal healing in individuals and societies” by Ms. Ann Shearer, Jungian Analyst, on Wednesday, 9th February, 2011 at 6:30 pm. The talk was moderated by Dr. Vithal Rajan, Social Activist and Writer, and Member, Advisory Board, Jung Centre, Bangalore.

In an illuminating manner, Ms. Shearer explored the archetypal roots of healing through the stories of ancient Greek Goddess- Themis and how she came to be identified with the concept of justice with a healing touch. As she expounded, right order in society could emerge only if Justice is tempered with a healing touch and not if Justice is sought to be achieved through a cold, impersonal approach. In other words, Justice need not necessarily be absolutely blind if the objective is to restore right order. She gave the example of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa which had adopted this approach with remarkable success.

The event was well attended by the members of Bangalore International Centre and the guests from the Jung Centre India.
