The Bangalore International Centre (BIC) had organised a Play “The Prophet and the Poet” on Wednesday, 25th March, 2009 at 7.30 pm at Alliance Francaise de Bangalore auditorium.
The Play is based on a compilation of letters and articles exchanged between Mahatma Gandhi and Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore over 25 years, with the Indian freedom struggle as the backdrop.
Through an innovative narration by three young people, the perceptional differences between two great Indians on several issues of national and international relevance were brought into sharp focus. What struck everyone was the exceptionally civilised and cultured manner in which the debate continued between the two. The differences between them were fundamental, and yet in their personal relations thee was nothing but respect and admiration for each other. How one wishes that the present day debates wee carried on the same lines! The packed hall enjoyed the show thoroughly.
