Bangalore International Centre had organised the Book Discussion of of the book “Precious Souls” authored by Dr. M Anantha Krishnan, Independent Aerospace & Defence Journalist, Motivational Speaker and Communication Specialist, on Wednesday, 28th September, 2016 at 6.30 PM at its auditorium. Ms. Jayashree Ramesh, Founder, Academy for Severe Handicaps and Autism (ASHA) was in conversation with him. The event was chaired and moderated by Mrs. Sreelakshmi Gururaja, Former UNICEF Representative.
A journey into the inspiring lives of special children and their families is a first of its kind effort to understand the world of children with special needs and create awareness among people about their small requirements. The Author narrated the lives of 24 children in the book and all are replete with grim determination -- so unlike us they are, but so courageously they live. Precious Souls calls for each reader to give nothing, but share all the love that they have whenever they see a special child.
Ms. Jayashree Ramesh highlighted the enormous negligence and lack of understanding in the society to understand the needs of special children and stressed how this enormous job of educating them and honing their skills can only be tackled with coordinated efforts of all the sections of the society, the government, NGOs and the corporate sector.
Ms. Sreelakshmi Gururaja emphasised that what these children need is not sympathy, but empathy.
The audience participated in the Q & A session with much enthusiasm.
