Held on Monday, 4th December, 2017 at 6.30 PM

Bangalore International Centre had organised Panel Discussion “Towards Peace and Reconciliation in Jammu and Kashmir” on Monday, 4th December, 2017 at 6.30 pm. The Panelists were Dr. Shujaat Bukhari, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Kapil Kak, Ms. Rinchen Angmo Chumikchan, Mr. Rakesh Gupta and Mr. Khurram Parvez. Dr. Ramachandra Guha was the chair and moderator for the event.

In the wake of the Government of India’s appointment of an interlocutor for the state of Jammu and Kashmir, BIC hosted a panel discussion on the prospects for peace and reconciliation in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The panelists, who were on a special visit to Bengaluru, represented a variety of stakeholders and different regions of Jammu Kashmir. The discussion focused on the possibilities of resolving conflicts and assuring justice to all residents of the state within the framework of the Indian Constitution.

The discussions focused on the positive aspects of the imbroglio and stressed that one must move on, considering the fact that attitudes have hardened which is not conducive to a dispassionate dialogue to settle the long –pending dispute.

Dr. Ramachandra Guha moderated the discussions with admirable skill, often spicing his erudition with wit and his well-known one liners.

The large audience appreciated the tone and tenor of the discussion.
