The Bangalore International Centre in collaboration with Indian Psychiatric Society, (Karnataka State Branch) and “The Hindu” had arranged a Talk on “Healthy Aging - No More an Oxymoron” by Dr. Srikala Bharath, Professor of Psychiatry, NIMHANS, Bangalore on Friday, 13th Aug, 2010 at 6:30 pm at the BIC Auditorium, Bangalore International Centre.
Old Age is of particular concern even in Today’s India as the average longevity is going up along with the attendant geriatric health problems. Dr. Bharath with power point presentation of slides talked on how simple changes in lifestyle and self perfection can lead to an active and healthy aging.
She concluded her talk by saying that Aging with no disability is a Successful Aging. Prevention and promotion Strategies need to start in Mid Life or Earlier. Positive thinking, forgiveness of others and self, constant physical and mental activity, and the desire to do good improve one’s quality of life.
The highly informative and interactive session was moderated by Dr. Prabha Chandra, Professor of Psychiatry, NIMHANS, and was followed by a lively question-answer session.
