Bangalore International Centre in collaboration with Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan had arranged screening of a German film “Ostkreuz” on Frifay, 1st July, 2011 at 6:30 pm. The film was directed by Michael Klier.
The film was about a 15 year-old East Berliner Elfie, who wanted to get out of the camp constructed from shipping containers as quickly as possible. While her mother hoped in vain to improve their situation by having a liaison with a small-time businessman, the daughter decided to steer their fate with her own two hands. She tried to scrape together the money that would allow her to pay the deposit on a rented flat by means of petty scams.
With “Ostkreuz”, Michael Klier had succeeded in creating an atmospherically dense and emotionally charged ambience.
The people who attended the screening enjoyed the film.
