Bangalore International Centre in collaboration with Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan had arranged screening of a German film “Nowhere in Africa” on Friday, 16th September, 2011 at 6:00 pm. The film was directed by Caroline Link.
The movie was the extraordinary true tale of a Jewish family of husband, wife and their five year old daughter who fled the Nazi regime in 1930s and adjusted to a remote farm in Kenya. Abandoning their once comfortable existence in Germany, the family dealt with the harsh realities of their new life in different ways. The film depicted beautifully how the five year old immediately embraced the country- learned the local language and customs and founded a true friend in the farm’s cook.
The film was well-crafted and the people enjoyed it thoroughly.
