Bangalore International Centre had arranged a talk on “My Experiments With Truth – The Indian Capital Market” by Mr. C B Bhave, I A S (Retd) on Friday, 6th June, 2014 at 6.30 PM.
Mr. Bhave who joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1975, continued till 1992 when he joined SEBI. During the years that followed he had a ring-side view of the complete overhaul of the capital market. In 1996, Mr. Bhave quit the IAS and set up one of the unique institutions (NSDL) of the capital market and then, as Chairman SEBI between 2008-2011, he had the ringmaster’s view of the Indian capital market. The years 1992-2011 represent a little ‘out of the ordinary’ experience of his public service career. Mr. Bhave shared his insights gained during this period. The talk dwelled on the management of change, his attempts at enforcing the rule of law in an environment of the nexus between politics and big money; the issues of investigation and adjudication and investor empowerment through regulation. His narrative, simple and straight, won the admiration of the large audience which heard him with rapt attention.
The Q & A session after the talk was informative and interesting.
