Panel Discussion on "Maximising learning of children in Schools"

Held on Friday, 15th December, 2017 at 6.30 PM

Bangalore International Centre had organised Panel Discussion “Maximising learning of children in Schools” on Friday, 15th December, 2017 at 6.30 pm. Panelists were Prof. B S Rishikesh, Ms. Lata Menon and Ms. K Vaijayanti. Dr. Sreelakshmi Gururaja chaired and moderated the event.

The panel consisted of three experts-cum-practitioners with in-depth experience in education. Panelists addressed the topic " Maximising learning of children in schools" within the current context and situation: highlighted the problems, examined what has worked as policy and programme initiatives in the State as well as recommend new possible actions by the implementing agencies and society with the help of presentations and visuals.

The panelists had a host of data to substantiate the point that while infrastructure for the school system has expanded remarkable, there are critical areas of gap in pedagogy, teacher training and the entire teaching –learning methodology. As an inevitable result, the students have not really learnt much from whatever they are receiving from the school system.

The attendance was rather thin for such an important topic. It did not deter the erudite panel to explain their points with adequate data and great clarity.
