Talk on "Gandhi and Islam" by Dr. Gita Dharampal-Frick

Bangalore International Centre had arranged atalk on “MAHATMA GANDHI AND ISLAM” by Dr. Gita Dharampal-Frick, Head, Department of History, South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University on Friday, 17th March, 2017 at 6.30 PM. Justice M N Venkatachalaiah,Former Chief Justice of Indiachaired and moderated the session.

Dr Dharampal-Frick’s talk traced the development not only of Gandhi's empathetic appreciation of Islam's civilisational and political significance, but also underscored the extent to which this 'prophet of nonviolence' drew inspiration from Islamic theology for his own doctrine and implementation of satyagraha in the struggle for Indian independence.

The event was well attended.
