Screening of a film "Jai Bhim Comrade" by Anand Patwardhan”

Held on Saturday, 28th July, 2012 at 3:30 pm.

Bangalore International Centre had arranged the screening of a path-breaking film “Jai Bhim Comrade” by Anand Patwardhan, on Saturday, 28th July, 2012 at 3:30 pm.

A searing indictment of the apathy of policy-makers and the people towards the psyche of the “dalits”, the film traced the series of events, starting from 1997, when a statue to Dr. Ambedkar was vandalized, to 2011when a group of dalit activists went underground to escape the Police dragnet.

In his interaction with the audience after the screening of the film, Anand Patwardhan talked about his own battles to secure the required approvals for almost all the films he had made so far and how he got his support from unexpected quarters. The packed audience saw the 3 hour long film and heard him with undivided attention.
