The book is a a compendium of a selection from among seminars which had been held on topics of crucial importance to India’s foreign policy and security. Fourteen of the seminars were selected and compiled in a book titled “India’s Security Environment”, which was released on the 23rd September, 2013. Together they cover an eventful period and make for a fascinating overview of the prevailing political, economic and strategic challenges that have faced India and which continue to confront us in the contemporary era.
During the interactions, Hon’ble Justice Venkatachalaiah talked about the depth and understanding with which the eminent contributors to the book have dealt with the complexities of India’s relationship with its neighbours and commended it to the policy makers as well as serious readers. Shri A P Venkateswaran in his erudite and witty observations highlighted the crucial geographic location of India which gives it a strategic advantage and an important role to play.
The well-attended interactive session noted with a degree of sadness the self-inflicted paralysis and lock of governance within the country which is currently preventing India to claim its rightful place in the comity of nations and expressed the hope that this would only be a passing phase.
