Lecture Demonstration on "Hindustani Ragas that were adopted into Carnatic Music" by Vid. R Vasudevan

Bangalore International Centre had arranged a Lecture Demonstration on " Hindustani Ragas that were adopted into Carnatic music" by Vid. R Vasudevan on Friday, 2nd June, 2017 at 6.30 PM at its auditorium. He was accompanied by Vid. Anand Vishwanathan on violin and Vid. Phanindra Bhaskara on Mridangam.

With a power point presentation, Vid. Vasudevan explained the codification of music and compositional forms and exchange of such ideas between Northern and Southern India during the 18th and 19th century, many Hindustani ragas were adopted into Carnatic music by Nama Sankeerthanam artistes and great composers like Muthuswami Dikshithar and others. These composers gave color to the ragas by way of the Carnatic grammar, framework and style. This concert highlighted this remarkable phenomenon.

The performance was well admired by the audience.
