Bangalore International Centre had organised the Bangalore Book Launch and Discussion of the book “Gujarat Files – Anatomy of a Cover Up” authored by Ms. Rana Ayyub, Journalist, Author and Columnist, on Thursday, 4th August, 2016 at 6.30 PM at its auditorium. Mr. Tejasvi Surya, Advocate in Karnataka High Court & co-founder of Centre for Entrepreneurial Excellence, was in conversation with Ms. Rana about the book. The event was chaired and moderated by Mr. Veera Raghavan, Resident Editor of The Hindu,
In her book, Ms. Rana has brought out the facts of her eight-month long undercover investigation into the Gujarat riots, fake encounters and the murder of state Home Minister Haren Pandya that brings to the fore startling revelations. Posing as Maithili Tyagi, a filmmaker from the American Film Institute Conservatory, Rana met bureaucrats and top cops in Gujarat who held pivotal positions in the state between 2001 and 2010.
There were fireworks galore during the discussion. Mr. Tejasvi Surya wondered why these issues were being raked up at this late stage when two Judicial Commissions and a court-monitored independent investigation had looked into every allegations made. The response of Ms. Rana Ayyub was that a lot of people did not reveal the true facts, which they did privately to her. The polarisation of views as clearly evident during the interactive session in which the members from the audience took part.
