The story of the 2G scam, along with the other scams, is that of a sordid drama which played a crucial role in the political and economic scenario of our country in the last decade. Mr. Pradip Baijal who had a ringside seat during this period talked about it with candour.
As Mr. Baijal warmed up to the story of the reforms in the Indian Economy since 1991, one got a panoramic view of the distortions which came along with the policy changes. Concentrating on the changes in the telecom sector which brought about phenomenal growth during the period after 2002, he pointed out how vested interests within the government gradually led to aberrations and distortions within the sector and massive corruption.
The Q & A session brought out other facts about the persecution of Baijal as he resolutely fought against the aberrations. The audience heard him with rapt attention.
