Bangalore International Centre had arranged a Carnatic Classical Vocal Recital " Margam - Path of Salvation by different composers" by Ms. Sharanya Sriram on Friday, 28th October, 2016 at 6.30 PM at its auditorium. She was accompanied by Mr. Shankar Rajan on Violin and Mr.B S Prashanth on Mridangam.
Through a power point presentation, Ms. Sharanya Sriram explained that ‘Margam’ simply means the path. Moksha as per Hindu tradition means gaining Mukti- liberation from the bondage of karma from the vicious cycle of birth and death forever. This becomes possible when human beings, after establishing absolute control over five senses and mind reach the stage of Nirvana - the eternal state of absolute bliss and wisdom. Music or Nada Yoga as we know has been the preferred medium by most Indian saints as an important and powerful tool in their quest for achievement of Nirvana. In her concert, Sharanya rendered compositions depicting the different types of Margam adopted by different saint composers.
The performance was well admired by the audience.
