Bangalore International Centre had arranged anIllustrated talk on“THE BIRDMAN OF INDIA” by Mr. ShashankDalvi, Birder and Wildlife Biologiston Monday, 13th March, 2017 at 6.30 PM. Mr. UlhasAnand,Co-founder at EcoEduchaired and moderated the session.
Through a power point presentation Mr.Dalvi narrated about the journey that he took across India between 1st January to 31st December 2015. In his quest to see as many species of birds as possible within Indian limits in a single calendar year, the journey as he narrated was action-packed with intense travel, non-stop hardcore birding and many anecdotes of successes and failures. There was joy in finding vagrant warblers on the remote Nicobar Islands and in sighting rare, newly added birds to the list of Indian birds on the eastern-most road of India. He said that he was also able to visit and bird in so many geographic regions, from the tropical forests of the Northeast and the Ghats to the deserts of Rajasthan and Ladakh which was done on a shoestring budget with a race against the ticking clock. At the end of theyear he was able to identify1,128 species of birds apart from several other fauna.The passion of the young bird-man was evident from his narration.
Mr. UlhasAnand chaired and moderated the discussion with aplomb.
